The Valley of Dry Eyes
Sin Proceeds From the Heart

Down in the Valley of Dry Eyes

General Indignant is riding by

Across the plain and up the hill
On his mighty steed Self Will

He is accompanied on each side
By Colonel Hate and Captain Pride
He dismounts his horse and takes his stance
Addressing his men with eloquence

“Men there is no doubt our cause is right
We will kill the enemy this very night
They are bad and we are good
They will get just what they should”

All cry out with one strong voice
Paranoia is the song of choice
Yes we know that we will win
Because we are all like minded men

With their swords two soldiers dig in
Privates Covet and Resentment
Right behind in their hold
Lust and Anger seem so bold

Sergeant Bitterness has been around
He’ll tell the simple what’s going down
“Close your heart and close your eyes
It’s the only way to whip these guys”

Corporal Ambition asks, “How much longer?”
Major Guile answers, “In the night we’re stronger
There are more of us than there are of them
No doubt about it we are going to win”

The scout cries out at the top of the mesa
“I see men coming with familiar faces
Relax they are only three men strong
Walking as if they had all day long

The General asks, “Did you see our enemies?”
They answer, “Throw down your swords and drop to your knees
You are surrounded on every side”
Colonel Hate laughs along with Captain Pride

My name is Faith and these are the facts
You’d better believe you are dead in your tracks
Listen now, for you have a choice
Be still, there’s Hope in the sound of his voice

I’m so glad Faith mentioned my name
I would like to continue in the same vein
Though you cannot see the things we say
The battle is already set in array

You think we are foolish and you are so wise
Secure here in the Valley of Dry Eyes
In this valley many wars have been fought
Souls have been lost and it’s been all for nought

Tears of repentance cause this valley to flood
With love of Jesus who comes from above
And now I’d like to introduce to you our friend
Stand in awe for all battles he wins

I am Love and I always have been
You have run into me now and then
Your words are no good I see your sin
Hate me and kill me but I’ll rise again

I cannot say what happened that night
Tears of repentance or swords of self-right
Faith, Hope and Love these things be
Love never fails it is the greatest of these
