The Scarlet Thread
Cutting the un Biblical Chord

Galatians 1:15

15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, 16 to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

 Joshua 2:18 and 19

18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household, home unto thee. 19 And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

Paul is speaking here about the un Biblical chord.  He was proud he was an Israelite of the tribe of Benjamen, "...and profited in the Jew's religion above many my equals in my own nation, being more exceeding zealous of the traditions of the fathers."

But Paul found out that if he wanted to be an "Israelite indeed" That he would have to cut the un Biblical chord.  He would come to realize that the true Israel was a child whom God loved and called his son up out of Egypt.  He said, "When I became a man I put away childish things."

The true Israel has come to maturity in Christ and is comprized of both Jews "after the flesh" and gentiles, "after the flesh," who are saved by grace through faith  That truth has always been, but it was not revealed until, "the fulness of time was come."  That is why it is called a mystery.  Paul also said we are Stewards of the mysteries of God. I fear lest the we have not been faithful stewards of these mysteries.  These mysteries are of great value in the sight of God. They should be just as valuable to God's Stewards.

Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we ought to give more earnest heed to the things we have heard lest at any time we let them slip.  These are things even the angels desire to look into.

We must cut the un Biblical chord yet cleave to the Scarlet Thread.  Rahab's scarlet thread was much more than just thread because it was used as a way of escape, but it is also a truth cloaked in a type that threads it way through the Bible.  The blood of Christ paid the debt man owed under the old covenant. That debt was nailed to the cross with his body.  The New Testament, like any last will and testament only comes into effect at the death of the testator.  Jesus had to die that we might receive the inheritance.  Whose we?  Those who are descenants of Abraham by faith.

Rahab's household was the household of faith, so to speak, those inside were protected, as long as they stayed in the house.  The Writer of Hebrews said, "Christ as a son over his own house, whose house are we if we hold fast the confidence of rejoicing firm unto the end."

I can understand Zionism, it's only natural for a people to want to return to their home land.  The Jews especially because the foundation for what they believe is the Old Testament.

The problem today in the church is Christian Zionism.  If we are Christians our foundation for what we believe is the New Testament.  The book of Ephesians  seems to like the number one. "There is one body and one Spirit even as you are called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all.

We are Stewards of these great mysteries.  Have we been faithful stewards are have we contributed to so  called religious wars as if God were a respecter of persons?  I believe by causing what was a type and shadow of the true Church to becoming a counterfeit of the Church we have deflated the valuable truths left in our trust.
