Forgetting those things that are left behind  

I need a new verse something that rhymes

Something to pick me up when I’m bleak

Something to make me laugh is what I seek 

Sitting  in front my old laptop

The words will not come I feel like a flop

Looking forward to those things that are ahead

I got nothing creativity is dead

Not a “doth” nor a “twas” nor a “tis” comes to me

Dr. Seuss made it look easy to write poetry

Cat in the Hat; Green Eggs and Ham

The Grinch Stole Christmas; I am Sam

Piece of cake; nothing to it; I told my boss when I quit

The bill collectors are now calling and having a fit

I wonder if Rudyard Kipling started like this

Did Robert Frost ever swing and miss?

My wife’s not too happy it’s easy to see

She just will not acknowledge the genius in me

My first poem was bad the second was worse

No masterpiece to put money in her purse

She says that I really don’t have the time

To sit around thinking of things that rhyme

Now she suggests maybe I’m not an artiste

And If I don’t get a job I’ll be needing a priest

         It was Johnny Paycheck who sung the song

entitled, "Take This Job and Shove It."  I believe Thomas Edison said,

"If you do something you like you'll never have to work a day

in your life."  I have come to believe that those people are the exception

and not the rule.  At the ripe young age of 54 this is my motto,     

"Thank God every morning when get up that you have something to do that day which must be done whether you like it or not."   Charles Kingsly
